Adapx Unveils Enterprise-Ready Digital Pen Solution

Adapx Unveils New Intelligent, Enterprise-Ready
Digital Pen and Paper Software Solution for Microsoft Office OneNote

SEATTLE, WA, Dec 10, 2007 – Adapx (www.adapx.com), the company that is changing the economics of field data management, today introduced Capturx built for Microsoft Office OneNote. Unlike other field data management options, Capturx provides a fully integrated digital pen and standard paper software solution that seamlessly links with Microsoft Office OneNote and operates in even the most extreme conditions. Adapx’s new software solution allows users to automatically convert field notes into digital data as they write and then immediately share field observations across teams.

Capturx built for Microsoft Office OneNote has been tested and meets the criteria for the Microsoft “Platform Test for ISV Solutions” program. The kit contains everything needed to get started immediately – the Capturx software that bridges to OneNote, the digital pen with replacement ink cartridges, the all-weather digital field notebook, the USB docking station and accompanying cables, an installation CD with owner’s manual, and a quick start guide.

“Only Capturx allows us to integrate data from various sites in the field and then upload the information in real-time onto our computers, resulting in greater overall productivity,” said Mark Valentino, GIS Coordinator at Freese and Nichols. “By eliminating room for error and the redundancy of transcription, relevant observations from the field are shared between our cross-functional teams faster and more frequently, which has led to better informed, business-critical decisions.”

Capturx built for Microsoft Office OneNote: Turning Ink Into Data
Capturx’s product suite enables users to create true digital records of field observations without changing the way they work, and facilitates enterprise-wide information sharing by providing users with a number of feature-rich benefits, such as:

Intuitive pen and paper technology
Users can take notes with the digital pen as they normally would on the weather-resistant notebooks.  The Capturx pen automatically converts handwritten field notes, sketches and other information into digital data.

Seamless integration with OneNote and Microsoft applications
As soon as the Capturx pen is placed in the docking station, the software automatically interprets and transposes incoming information from the pen, then updates the new or existing OneNote document selected by the user in seconds. Users have the option to retain their handwriting in digital format or to convert it to text with a click of the mouse, without having to manually re-type any notes. Since Capturx is seamlessly integrated with Microsoft Office OneNote, users gain even more flexibility because the digitized data is also accessible from other Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Advanced data collection and management capabilities
Capturx provides a flexible system, where users can create a single collection point to gather and organize information from the field, then leverage the powerful search capabilities of OneNote to quickly find handwritten notes or text; and any data with labels or unique names including sketches, pictures, graphics, audio and video recordings. Users are able to archive digital notebooks on their computers, and easily share them with colleagues via email, through ‘to do lists’ and task features for enhanced collaboration.

Durable design
Reliable and rugged, the compact digital pen can easily fit into a pocket and comes with a smart battery management system. Capturx also includes weather resistant paper to withstand the rigors of the outdoors and keep information intact.

“With Capturx built for Microsoft Office OneNote, paper notebooks, in essence become an extension of your computer, eliminating the tedious tasks of manually re-typing notes, searching for buried critical data page by page, and scanning or photocopying to create digital archives,” explains Ken Schneider, President and CEO of Adapx. “Since our customers span numerous industries, Adapx has developed a robust and scalable solution to fulfill a broad-range of needs for different field situations. Most importantly, Capturx preserves and digitally enables proven pen and paper business processes, which means there’s no training required, making field deployment easy.”

Pricing and Availability
Capturx built for Microsoft Office OneNote is available today for an introductory offer of $299 per kit until January 15, 2008, and $349 per kit thereafter at the Adapx Store.
