Welcome to Capturx Pen Manager 4.0 software!

Written for customers and partners, this document addresses issues that are not discussed in the User Guide. This document may be updated periodically as more information becomes available.

New in Capturx Pen Manager 4.0

• Support for Anoto's new Live Pen 2 digital pens. (The model and the firmware version of the pen is shown.) Users will now receive notification when their firmware is out of date, so that it can be downloaded and the pen can be upgraded.
• Improved support for handling multiple ink records in Stored Ink. Users can now process (e.g., upload) multiple records at once, rather than only individually.
• Improved support for observing the status of pens docked at a workstation:
  • even if the computer happens to be locked via a new Capturx Pen Manager Screen Saver;
  • via new and improved notifications when unlocked;
  • moving existing pen tabs to appear left-most in the reverse order they were docked (i.e., the most recently docked pen will be at the left of the tab).
• Detailed logging can now be enabled/disabled from the Pen Manager itself.
• Pen Manager will support URL redirection/rewriting when the URL for a Capturx for SharePoint server changes.
• The Pen Manager now reports the version of the connected Capturx Server.
• Multi-user workstations now are supported by Pen Manager; it ensures that the docking of pens is only handled by the active user session.
• Citrix XenDesktop 7.5-7.6 Support in VDI configuration (Live Pen 1) and Server VDI configuration (Live Pen 1 and 2)

Capturx Pen Manager 4.0 System Requirements
Operating System: Windows 7 SP1 (32- and 64-bit), Windows 8 or 8.1 (32- and 64-bit), and Windows 10 (32- and 64-bit); Windows Server 2008R2 and Windows Server 2012R2.
Memory: A minimum of 512MB of RAM is required, though 1GB of RAM or more is suggested for optimal results.

Versions of Capturx Pen Manager
Adapx recommends that all customers and partners on supported systems update to the most recent version of Capturx Pen Manager. Ensure that you have the latest version installed by opening Capturx Pen Manager and looking in the bottom right-hand corner.

Supported Versions of Capturx Software
Capturx Pen Manager is compatible with the following versions of Capturx software and solutions. Earlier versions are not supported.

• Capturx Forms Service/Capturx for SharePoint 2.4;
• Capturx Forms for Excel 1.1.2, 1.2.x;
• Capturx Notes for Microsoft Office OneNote 2.2.1-2.3;
• Capturx Markup for PDF 1.1.3 (and later);
• Capturx for ArcGIS Desktop 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.3;
• Capturx Pattern Migrator 4.0, 4.0a;
• Capturx Print Optimization Utility 4.

Limitations

• Encryption: Capturx Pen Manager 4.0 does not support encryption. Customers using Capturx in encryption mode should continue using Pen Manager 3.5 until Pen Manager 4.0.1 is released in 2016. 
• Live Pen 2
  • ​Passwords are not a feature of the Live Pen 2 hardware.
  • Due to a limitation on the Live Pen 2, in Pen Manager 4.0 all ink records either remain on the pen or are removed together.

Reminder: Customers using certain older versions of Capturx software cannot upgrade to Capturx Pen Manager 4.0. If you use one of these versions, contact an Adapx Sales representative to upgrade to a newer version before installing Capturx Pen Manager 4.0.

Installation and Uninstallation
Pen Manager 4.0 can be installed over a previous version.  There is no need to first uninstall the previous version.
