If you use Capturx Forms Service (hosted by Adapx), you have access to the most recent version in the “Capturx Resource Center”. If you use a Capturx desktop application or on-premise Capturx server solution, and have Capturx Pen Manager 3.4 (or later), click on the arrow next to the Version number in the bottom right corner. Once you click on “Updates”, and then “Check for Updates”, you will see if an update is available.

Yes, when writing with the digital pen, it’s best to keep the following best practices in mind:

• Writing Styles: Printing and cursive work best with handwriting recognition. Avoid block printing as it doesn’t produce good “conversion to text” results. When writing text on the Excel form you need to write in the same direction and orientation as the printed form for your ink to be recognized.
• Dates: When writing a date, use day/month/year convention, i.e. 09/10/2009 or 09-10-2009
• Decimal points: If you write a number that starts with a decimal point, start with a “0” then make a thick decimal point.
• Margins: Although the image can be printed up to the edge of the pattern, the digital pen does not work well at the edges of the page. Allow a ½ inch margin from the edge of the page when writing, to ensure that your ink is captured correctly.
• Parallel letters: Avoid crossing adjacent “t”s with a single horizontal stoke, such as in “Seattle”
• Punctuation: Exaggerate your punctuation marks so they are recognized more easily, i.e. use thick decimals, periods, and points.
• Quotes: Don’t enter double-quotes (“) in a cell to mean “same entry as the cell above,” Capturx will misinterpret the ink.
• Slashes: If you use forward slashes to separate dates, then exaggerate the slashes to avoid them looking like the number “1.”

The pen does not have a name associated with it. To have a name associated with future markups, dock the pen, open the Capturx Pen Manager, type the appropriate author in the “Name” field, and click the “Save/Register” button.

The markup comments reflect the date and time that the markups were actually written. The time reflects the local time zone of the PC on which the PDF file is viewed.

Reset the pen by pushing in the reset button on back of pen. Depress and hold for 3 seconds. Dock pen and check to see if battery light blinks red. This indicates that the pen is charging. If the pen battery light is still solid red the battery may be dead, contact [email protected].

The pen is not recognizing the pattern printed. Possible steps to go through:

• Verify printer minimum requirements are met
• Verify printer is not on incompatible list
• Adjust color management settings in printer driver to allow application to control settings.
• Printer Optimization Utility, can improve pattern quality. Download the utility

• Pen may need a firmware upgrade. Ask customer if pen worked in the past and did they recently download pattern? Pens purchased prior to 2009 may not recognize the pattern and need to be firmware upgraded. Contact Adapx Tech Support [email protected]

Capturx for OneNote 2.2.1 successfully imports ink records or pen data into notebooks in OneNote 2007 format. When using OneNote 2010 import all Capturx for OneNote 2.2.1 ink records or pen data to the 2007 Notebook format which can be used in OneNote 2010. If you recently upgraded the Operating System on your Blackberry the device memory may have been set to zero. Check the available amount of device memory allocated.

No, the new Pen Manager functionality of emailing ink files is not compatible with Capturx for Autodesk Design Review.
