If you use Capturx Forms Service (hosted by Adapx), you have access to the most recent version in the “Capturx Resource Center”. If you use a Capturx desktop application or on-premise Capturx server solution, and have Capturx Pen Manager 3.4 (or later), click on the arrow next to the Version number in the bottom right corner. Once you click on “Updates”, and then “Check for Updates”, you will see if an update is available.

Within Control Panel Programs, choose to repair the other Capture software programs.

Yes. Digital pen passwords can’t be longer than 22 characters, and can’t contain non-English characters.

The pen does not have a name associated with it. To have a name associated with future markups, dock the pen, open the Capturx Pen Manager, type the appropriate author in the “Name” field, and click the “Save/Register” button.

You received this email because someone used Capturx Pen Manager to email their digital ink to you. The attached file contains handwriting related to one or more Capturx software applications. From a computer with Capturx software installed, double-click on the email’s attached file and select “Open” when prompted. If the digital ink includes PDF markup, the Capturx software will automatically open the associated PDF file. Successful processing of digital ink will be reported by Capturx Digital Pen Manager. Click “OK” to close the Capturx Pen Manager window.

Reset the pen by pushing in the reset button on back of pen. Depress and hold for 3 seconds. Dock pen and check to see if battery light blinks red. This indicates that the pen is charging. If the pen battery light is still solid red the battery may be dead, contact [email protected].

Windows 7/Vista 64 bit users: Check to see if there are any 64 bit processes running that contain the string Dock or Noti. Stop process and try download. The string does not need to be at the beginning of the name. (Processes that append with "32" , ie 32 bit processes, should not be ended). This step is not necessary for Pen Manager 3.3 users.

XP users: Ink written in a 8.5X11 journal will not download in Capturx for OneNote v1.x. Delete ink from pen and write in the 7 X5 Black Rite in the Rain journal.

International Users: Check to see if English(US) settings are being used. In Regional and Language settings, the format and Location option, should be set to English(US). You may also need to first create a Notebook within OneNote with an English name after changing settings. Once created user may be able to switch to their original notebook. Note: Capturx for OneNote software supports English only.  Once your pen data is downloaded into OneNote,  images of your non-English writing will be displayed. However, you will not be able to convert them to non-English text or search for non-English terms.

All users: Verify that Microsoft Office OneNote is installed. Verify that Capturx is Built for Microsoft Office OneNote installed. The Pen Manager can install w/o the Capturx OneNote application. Change name of notebook to a TEXT string. Specifically do not use a date in notebook name

Not Common issues but may happen: Windows 7 / Vista 32/64 Verify that pen manager app is not running as an admin (rt-click, properties, compatibility) Vista - Turn UAC off. Run repair on application. The application occassionally does not register correctly. Run a repair through Program and Features, restart, and retry download.

If getting "Unexpected error when downloading ink" check the following:
1. Try creating a new notebook by checking "New Notebook" on the title page. Ink may import
2. Check to see if Regional and Language Settings are set to Engish US
3. Delete ink from pen

Capturx for ArcGIS, Capturx for PDF and the Capturx Server Print Utility support the US version of Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2, and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit).

Starting with version 3.5, Capturx Pen Manger supports any locale of Windows XP SP3, Vista SP2, Windows 7* (32-bit and 64-bit), and Windows 8 (32-bit and 64-bit).

Capturx for Excel can run on U.S. English, Canada English and UK English versions of Windows XP SP3, Vista SP2, Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), and Windows 8 (32-bit and 64-bit).

Capturx Forms Service and Capturx for SharePoint support standard and tablet PC versions of Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1 for client (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows 8 (32-bit and 64-bit).

Capturx for SharePoint requires an English Windows Server 2008 R2.

Close the Capturx Pen Manager from the Windows Task Manager and restart the Capturx Pen Manager. To restart Capturx Pen Manager: Start – All Programs - Startup – Capturx Pen Manager

This can result from having your computer or DB files set for compression. To ensure your DB files are not compressed: 1. Select the database folder causing the problem. 2. Make sure the Compress Folder option is unchecked. 3. Reboot your system and try installing or using the Capturx extension again. If the problem continues, contact Adapx technical support for help.
